Happy Friday (and another long weekend!) 🎉
This week has been wonderful hasn’t it? Weather wise. Not sure I can say the same for other parts of our lives… work/back to school after the holidays, that one is always the hardest isn’t it? The sun definitely makes everything feel lighter though 🤩
We also have a lovely long weekend to look forward to. I bought new school shorts for the kids this week, so you can blame me when the weather gets cold again in the next few days.
This newsletter will land in your inbox every Friday morning and includes:

Kids - A “Rainy Day Corner”
A meal plan (because I sometimes hate doing this job, so hoping it saves you from having to wrack your brains deciding what’s for tea.)
News from Northumberland and beyond.
We enjoyed a lovely night away in North Yorkshire last weekend. If you are National Trust members, here are two brilliant days out you can enjoy included in your membership: Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks. Both places have special childhood connections for me, my dad was the head gardener at Fountains Abbey in the early 90’s and my mum worked in the cafe there. It’s a fab day out, nice cafe, brilliant play park and the grounds are huge. You can explore the Abbey, the water gardens and deer park.
Brimham Rocks is free to visit but if you aren’t a NT member it costs over £6 to park there!
Date for your diary: I work for a brilliant dance company called Meta4 Dance. They are putting on a live dance performance at the Alnwick Garden on Saturday 24th May. This is the first Saturday of the half term, at 2pm. The performance involves a cast of over thirty community members alongside professional dancers. It’s going to be amazing! It’s free to watch but you obviously need entry to the Garden. Bring along a picnic blanket and sit on the grass in front of the fountains to enjoy the performance. Follow them on socials for updates.
Sports camps seem to be popping up in my feed more and more often at the moment (you can tell what I’ve been searching). Trident Soccer are at Alnmouth from Tuesday 27th May - Friday 30th for school groups Reception - year 8. Alnwick Tennis Club run various camp dates (you can book just one day, no need to commit to a full week) and CDL Sport is running their usual multi-sports holiday camp at Morpeth Cricket club.
The Rainy Day Corner.
If you have Easter eggs coming out of your ears still, here is a delicious way to use them up with some afternoon baking.
What’s for tea.
Here’s our meal plan for this week. I always struggle to feel inspired writing the meal plan, so hopefully this might give you some inspiration, if you feel the same.
I’m working on launching a new website this weekend, so please cross your fingers I meet no online gremlins while trying to get it live! Hopefully I will have more to share with you next week.
Have a brilliant weekend,
Beth x 🌷
