Happy Friday 🎉
How has your week been?
I have been feeling…something, this week. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is exactly, but there’s definitely been…something different about my mood.
On Monday, I headed to the local library to put in a few hours graft, away from the builders at home. I forgot it was Storytime for little ones.
I sat at the desk, laptop open in front of me, listening to enthusiastic grandparents trying to remember all the words to “wind the bobbin up”, toddlers climbing all over their knees and occasionally clapping along. A pang of nostalgia hit me. Out of nowhere I could feel those hot tears pricking my eyes. We are past that stage now. I know for many mothers, it probably comes as a relief that you no longer have to sing along in the library, pretending to be loving life. But I just want to chat about dinosaurs again and wonder what fresh new content Blippi has been creating. I want to sing nursery rhymes and sit for five minutes during that car nap time. However, we are now firmly past this stage.
In contrast, my son went out with his friend after school the other day. They bought pizza, played in the river and were responsible time keepers. I mean, how are we HERE already??
What a rollercoaster ay?

The Rainy Day Corner.
Speaking of libraries, did you know they often run events for children (workshops/author talks etc) for free?
We are lucky that our library is located in The Alnwick Playhouse, so we could combine a trip to the library with a visit to the cinema. Perfect rainy day activity 🙌🏻 They have drop in events like Lego club on a Saturday or the toddler story time I was talking about before. Most of the time, these are drop in and free 🤩
What’s for tea.
Try this recipe for flapjack - super easy and super delicious (it’s the one we were trying out this week.)
Here’s our meal plan for this week. I always struggle to feel inspired writing the meal plan, so hopefully this might give you some inspiration, if you feel the same.
Have a wonderful weekend.
