A huge sun drenched (kind of) hello and it feels so good to be properly back at the keys of the laptop, my notebook open beside me with the pen resting on top, ready to write up the next few months.
I carried on working throughout the summer holidays but it feels different to be sat here now, in the silence of the house, my brain finally able to focus on one task at a time.
Or is itโฆ
There is no bickering. No asking for snacks (even though we have only just had lunch) and no little person climbing on to my lap for a cuddle.
I am missing them already, and I hope that if you have a small person starting school, changing schools or returning, everything went as smoothly as possible for you. I know how heart breaking it is sending them in, when they are crying and just want to be at home with you.
This week I am sharing with you:
A snapshot of what our summer looked like.
A culture trail that within my role at
I created along with the wonderful .And a walking app that is part of the Big Northumberland Gear Change - a campaign I am excited to be working on for a third year!
Summer Holidays 2024
Summer is the time when the days stretch long like a lazy cat in the sun, and every moment is a new adventure waiting just for you.
This is exactly what the summer break means to me. It is not having to rush out the door by 8.15am. No homework or trying to remember what club/event/fundraiser is happening that week. It is a slower pace and potential.
Our summer was filled mostly with days at the park, sports club for the older two, a brief holiday in the Cotswolds, a walk up a mountain, swing ball in the garden, fish and chips, ice cream (obvs), days out with grandparents and friends whilst juggling work with down time.
Culture Champ Trail Alnwick
Thank you to anyone who took part in this over the summer holidays. It came in a bit last minute so hopefully we will have some more time for marketing the trail in the run up to the October half term.
But it is a FREE trail around the town of Alnwick, for families to visit venues and tick off to receive a postcard and a sticker, declaring they are a โCulture Champโ. The illustration for the postcards/stickers and t-shirts (!) is by the very talented
.You can read more about the trail and join in here. Thanks to the support from Northumberland County Council.
T-shirts (for children - sorry!) are here.

Ready, Set, Explore!
On the first day back to school for the kids, I headed along to Tyne Riverside Country Park. Never have I explored this corner of Northumberland before but it was BEAUTIFUL!
๐ฑFree parking
๐ฑVisitor centre with a cafe/toilets and both indoor and outdoor seating
๐ฑPlaypark
๐ฑ 200 acres of stunning landscape alongside the River Tyne with easy walking routes suitable for dog walkers, cyclists, pushchairs and wheelchairs.
I have uploaded my walk to the Go Jauntly app which you can download for FREE here. It gives you step-by-step guides to walks all over Northumberland, which are easy to access and follow.
I hope you had a lovely summer and feel refreshed for the next few months. We are entering my favourite time of year and I already feel as excited as when I stood in queue for the fifth Harry Potter book to come out. ๐คฉ
Until next timeโฆ
