Happy Friday 🎉
How has your week been?
The sun is shining here in Northumberland and I am so excited to host a family picnic tomorrow, in the garden. Over the last couple of years I have grown to love the simple pleasures in life. Days out, holidays and travel still light my fire, however I also enjoy these home days just as much.
Family, food and sunshine…what else could you ask for? ☀️
This newsletter will land in your inbox every Friday morning and includes:
Travel - A round up from Northumberland and beyond.
Kids - A “Rainy Day Corner”
A meal plan (because I sometimes hate doing this job, so hoping it saves you from having to wrack your brain deciding what’s for tea.)
News from Northumberland and beyond.
Have you been loving Wimbledon this year? It’s so nice to see the sun shining and not having the covers on all the time! I would love to know if you have ever been? It’s definitely on the bucket list for me. The social media team do a cracking job of capturing the highlights and behind the scenes moments for Instagram.
Heading south this summer? One of our favourite days out is Cotswold Wildlife Park. If you book online you save 💰and it fills the whole day. I recommend taking a picnic and saving some money for the train ride and ice creams.
Closer to home, Fieldhead Farm (which normally does pumpkin picking) have opened up their wild flower fields, so you can go and pick your own!
PYO fruit is also a popular option for many. Personally, I find it quite expensive but it’s more about the experience isn’t it? Felton and Brocksbushes are the popular ones in Northumberland. Again, if you are visiting Brocksbushes, you could turn it into a day out by visiting their play barn and cafe.
I love this for an afternoon out with my older two, shared by North East Family Fun
in Newcastle. Darts and pizza!
The Rainy Day Corner.
I’m going to be lazy this week because I think sometimes we need a reminder that sticking a film on, snuggling into a blanket and snacking on popcorn is okay! Yes, days out and activities are wonderful, but my kids are so ready to slow down after a super busy week of term!
So, next rainy day, rent a film from Amazon or browse new adds on Netflix, grab the blanket and get cosy. You have permission 😜
What’s for tea.
Here’s our meal plan for this week. I always struggle to feel inspired writing the meal plan, so hopefully this might give you some inspiration, if you feel the same.
My youngest is hard to feed. She isn’t necessarily too fussy, but she eats tiny portions and often leaves the meat. So this week I have included two meals that I know she wolfs down and sometimes asks for more. Spaghetti Bolognese and Mexican (this is actually just wraps, mince and veggies as the kids don’t like the spice that my husband and I add 😅)
Have a wonderful weekend.
Love Beth x 🌷
