First and foremost a huge happy new year to you! How was your festive season? Amazing, fantastic, unforgettable? Or were you in a heap of parental stress come Christmas Eve? Either way, here we are on the flip side and I just wanted to send a quick hello and check in for January.
The one where I turned up late…
Yes, Friends is back on my TV now the Christmas films have finished. I need some comfort to fill that film void. This afternoon I sat and ate my lunch watching the episode where Rachel and Mindy discover Barry is cheating on both of them…with each other. I mean, it’s Barry? The sooner Ross tells Rachel how he feels, the better.
It has been a productive day considering my energy levels are still at an all time low, following an undiagnosable illness over Christmas. We are three weeks into it now. I have Googled (yikes - don’t go there!), taken a covid test and had umpteen early nights. So far I’m putting it down to burn out.
How did I let this happen? I know the signs and what to do to chill but I’m just not very good at implementing it. Even now, I worked my socks off this morning to allow myself a bit of rest this afternoon and yet here I am, tapping away on the laptop. Do you find it hard to relax?
I have been filling in my diary with my hopes and dreams for the year. Wednesdays have been earmarked as a day I explore “somewhere new” and dedicate the whole day to writing. Despite the freezing cold temperatures, I think I may take myself to the beach tomorrow for a walk with a flask of hot chocolate (not sick of those yet!) and write when I get back to the car. Surely some vitamin Sea will sort me out?
Hopefully, from the gist of this post, you will forgive me for being a bit late in wishing you a happy new year. Every email I have sent this week has started with Hi…. Happy New Year! But how long do we keep saying this for? We are a week in already 🤔
We were also late for school this morning and that has NEVER happened before. The mornings are a bit of a challenge at the moment.
Good to know.
I have paused my paid subscribers until the end of February as a thank you for your support in 2024.
Once a week, you will receive a ‘days out for mini-adventures’ post, like this one…
Ways to travel the world with your children.
In a recent survey by Good Housekeeping, the biggest dream across all age groups is to travel more. Responses about self-improvement tie in with this as people liked the idea of learning a new language as their chosen skill. I always imagine winning the lottery and splitting the money between home improvements and then travelling the world.
And a Friday is going to be my “Once Upon a Bookshelf” post ahead of the weekend ❤️
As ever, I am excited to see what the year brings. My word of the year is Brave. Have you chosen one?
So here we go, stepping bravely into a new year. Let’s do this 💪
